Maxxon® Commercial Acousti-Top® is a low-profile soundproofing mat for floors made from a blend of acoustical fibers that reduces both impact noise (footsteps, dropped objects) and airborne sound transmission between interior floors. At less than 1/16 inch thick, it delivers code-level sound control without raising floor height. It is installed by fully adhering it to concrete or Maxxon underlayment subfloors using Acousti-Top® Adhesive, or laid as a floating installation. Each roll covers 708 sq ft (42.5 inches wide × 200 feet long), making it efficient for large-scale multi-family, commercial, and residential flooring projects.

Maxxon® Acousti-Top® is a certified soundproof underlayment listed under ICC ESR-2540 and UL ER8477-01, and it is included in over 140 UL and ULC fire-resistance rated floor-ceiling assembly designs including UL Designs G230, G516, G524, G551, G553, G560, G561, G563, G566, G574, G587, G597, J917 through J994, L201 through L593, M500 through M531, and many ULC designs. It is also GREENGUARD and GREENGUARD Gold Certified for low chemical emissions, supporting LEED credit requirements for multi-family, light commercial, and hospitality projects.

Maxxon® Acousti-Top® is less than 1/16 inch thick making it one of the thinnest soundproofing mats for floors on the market. Most competing sound control underlayments range from 1/8 inch to 3/4 inch thick, which can require adjustments to door clearances, transition strips, and finish floor heights. At less than 1/16 inch, Acousti-Top® delivers code-level sound control without impacting floor height at all a critical advantage in renovation projects where maintaining original finish floor elevation is a design or code requirement.

Maxxon® Commercial Acousti-Top® is compatible with virtually all finished floor coverings, including luxury vinyl tile (LVT), luxury vinyl plank (LVP), sheet vinyl, laminate, hardwood, ceramic and porcelain tile, and carpet. It supports both fully adhered and floating floor installations. Its thin profile ensures that finished flooring products especially dimensionally sensitive materials like LVT and hardwood seat evenly without telegraphing edge lines or profile inconsistencies through the surface.

Maxxon® Commercial Acousti-Top® is ideal for multi-family housing renovations and new construction (apartments, condominiums), single-family residential construction, wood-frame multi-story buildings, new concrete slab construction, and light commercial projects requiring IIC (impact insulation class) and STC (sound transmission class) performance. It is especially effective in multi-family renovation projects where existing concrete or gypsum subfloors need sound control without the thickness or weight of traditional acoustic mat systems. T.W. Maxxon® Acousti-Top® supports both installation methods. For a fully adhered installation, Acousti-Top® Adhesive an acrylic copolymer pressure-sensitive adhesive sold in 5-gallon pails (covering 1,000 sq ft) is spread over the concrete or Maxxon underlayment subfloor, and the mat is rolled into the adhesive. For floating applications, the mat can be laid without adhesive under compatible floating floor systems. The installation temperature must be at or above 50°F for at least 24 hours. The mat should be stored in a dry, cool place before installation.
